Tried sharing this several weeks ago when I made popcorn for the kids' snack. So much fun for me to watch the kids wait for the popcorn to pop in our Stir Crazy Popper. Brings back wonderful memories of eating popcorn with my parents & sisters while watching tv like TGIF on Fridays.

Thank you for the way you appreciate Life Jeannette, and the way You Express It.
ReplyDeleteI've been thinking of memories of my childhood, and how I would love going exploring in the back yard at our house on Schoolcraft.
It was a busy road and we were only allowed to go out by the ditch and weed the ditches where my mom had flowers planted. So I did that by we couldn't cross the two lane highway because there was such a big divider between the two lanes for us to get to the other side, and my mom didn't want us out by the road that they would drive 55 and 65 miles an hour. (Now it's I-96 and they go 70-75 miles an hr.) So we would go out in the back yard and climb this big Maple tree ( I think it was the tree that had the whirlly gig airplanes drop from it) That's why when I take the my grand kids for a walk Grammy likes that part of fall Or is it spring when those seeds are on the ground and you pick it up and let it float to the ground?
We had a super big back yard like an acre of land that we had to mow IF we wanted my dad to go out and play baseball and his the ball with the bat and we'd catch the ball or we'd run the bases. That's where when our boy cousins would come over and we'd have a team. Well wel had us 5 and the 3 boy cousins (It didn't hardly make a team but then my dad and uncle Jack would be on the team also. (When I shared this with your dad he said, "Well at least your dad got out to play with you, my dad was always busy working.)
We were about a half mile away from the railroad tracks behind our house and Yes of course we had to get back there and walk the rails to see if we could find any treasures. This last time when we were home I was talking with Aunt Patty about our adventures and she told me of the time that she remembers starting a fire back there and didn't know what to do. I told her, I didn't remember any fires. But I do remember how my girls would go down to their friends house and years later I heard of some of their adventures. I didn't realize how much I enjoyed being adventerous (sp).
Thank you for making me realize that with the simplest of things memories can be made. It was a real joy to have something as simple as Popcorn to be the point of memories. (At the time I didn't realize we were making memories).
I liked your picture of the kids sitting there watching the popper go round and round.
I don't know what Gramma Jackie's childhood was like but I do know that when everyone comes over she would like to have games at her house so the kids would have something to do.
I gotta go cuz they didn't get one of the stitches out of my toe and we have to go into IM by 9:00.
I Love All, See you Soon,
Love Grammy Cheryl
